Colorful Homemade Playdough Recipe

This is a great homemade playdough recipe. Now you can make your own fun and colorful playdough in the comfort of your home. The recipe for making this homemade playdough is not difficult to make.

Ingredients that you will need for this recipe:
2 cups plain flour
2 cups water
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tbsp cream of tartar
1 cup salt
4 different colors of food coloring

Other things that you will need for this recipe:
saucepan
mixing spoon

Step 1
Add the 2 cups of flour into the saucepan. Don't add heat yet. Then add the water into the saucepan, followed by the 1 cup of salt, 2 tablespoons vegetable oil and finally the 1 tablespoon of cream of tarter. Mix the ingredients together using the mixing spoon.

Step 2
add a low heat to the saucepan and continue to stir the ingredients together until the dough is formed.

Step 3
Once the dough is formed in the pan, take it out of the pan and place it on a surface to work from, such as a bread board or kitchen table. Knead the dough while its still warm, until the dough is smooth.

Step 4
Once the dough is smooth, break it up into 4 pieces. Each piece will be colored a different color. This is the part where you add color to the dough. Since you are going to be using color dye, place a piece of baking paper on the surface where you are working from.

Step 5
Using your thumb, press a hole into each of the dough pieces. Add a few drops of the colored dye/food coloring into the hole that you made in the dough, each piece of dough getting a different color. Note, working with the color dye may be a little messy, so you can wear cloves to avoid dirtying your hands.

Step 6
Work the color into the dough until the piece of dough changes color.

That's that. It's finished; now you have 4 pieces of wonderfully colored playdough. Have fun playing with the different colored homemade playdough.
